Bud Pierce is the brain behind The NeuroPower Academy and the concept of “Leveraging Your Minds Infinite Potential”.
Bud’s story, as you’ll read below, represents quite a journey to his “life’s work” of helping others achieve peak performance by understanding and utilizing their mind to make their job easier, more fun and more lucrative.
Bud Pierce is a native of Bluefield, VA. After graduating from high school, he attended Bluefield College and Emory & Henry College, earning degrees in history and psychology.
It is interesting that many of his first jobs were in sales – paperboy, highway flare salesman for BSA, Christmas card sales, Good Humor man selling ice cream, and firewood. Bud also worked in the construction industry digging ditches, roofing, as a brick mason, head pizza chef in Italian restaurant, fighting forest fires for the national park service and worked for the Kroger grocery chain. Bud quickly learned the definition JOB meant (Just over Broke) and discovered he could not do much with Bachelor degrees in psychology and history so he decided to enroll in graduate school.
In 1985, Bud graduated from Radford University with a Master of Science degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. Shortly after graduate school, he was published in two psychology journals for his research in personnel selection.
Following graduate school, Bud worked for a year as a plant personnel manager in Harrisonburg, VA. From 1985 – 1989 he worked as a Personnel Officer for the Norfolk Southern Corporation where he earned the Professional in Human Resource Management (PHR) accreditation. After leaving the railroad Bud spent the next twenty five years in the insurance industry, where he won national awards as an agent, sales manager, branch manager, trainer and coach. He currently works as a Performance Coach and Business consultant with a practice in Roanoke, Virginia.
He was an Eagle Scout and continues to teach the God and Country award to the local Scout Troop. In 1988 he was named a Kentucky Colonel. Bud is an avid student of Neuro-Science, Sports Psychology, Performance Psychology, Performance Caoching, Accelerated Learning Techniques, Photo-Reading, Mind Mapping, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), HNLP (Humanistic Neuro-Linguistic Psychology) and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). He is the Pastor of Belview United Methodist Church in Radford, VA. and resides in Salem, VA. In his spare time Bud hikes the Appalachian Trail.
“Bud Pierce is a dedicated, highly competent, talented, coach/therapist and presenter. His zest and natural enthusiasm for learning is inspiring. His down to earth approach, humor and rich life experience immediately puts people at ease and opens their receptivity to learning and performing at their best. Bud is a doer who gets things done. Beyond all that, he’s just a great guy with a big heart. I am pleased to highly recommend Bud and his work whether it is in an individual or organization context.” John Overdurf, Certified Master Trainer of NLP, Co-Developer of Humanistic Neuro-Linguistic Psychology
